Landshire of St. Louis, MO is expanding its recall of the Nike Sandwich as a precautionary measure to include the addition of the Nike Super Poor Boy Sandwich as well as increased production dates of the Nike All-American Sandwich. The expanded recall includes 17,305 cases. The products may contain Listeria Monocytogenes. Listeria Monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
The initial recall was issued on October 20, 2011.
The Nike All-American sandwiches were distributed Nationwide at Convenient Stores, Wholesale Food Distributors and Retail Supermarkets.
